Reading eggs

My homeschooler loves games and video games so whenever possible I try to make learning a game! Uno, chess, connect four, trouble and jenga have all been part of our curriculum. I also have a couple of online programs that he really likes and he really learns!

The first is a subscription to education.com that includes tons of worksheets and also a math and reading program called Brainzy Games. You can assign all of your children accounts with their own profiles.

The one we've been using for the past week is a 2 week trial of ReadingEggs.com . Since it's a trial I've been getting him to play with it a lot to get a feel for it. It's awesome! He will do the games for 2 hours at a time without any prompting from me and in one week I've seen progress in his reading. I'm starting to get emails from them with subscription deals. Right now they're offering a year for about $50. I think this is totally worth it. The only bummer is you must purchase additional subscriptions to add more children but they give you a deal at $29 a year for each extra kid.

I would recommend trying the program out with your new reader, just the 2 week trial might give a boost like it did here. I'm glad we gave it a go.
